Siege of Vraks

2 Wargamers desperately trying to stay focused

Nobody expects the Enforcers

See I told you I would post some more pics soon.

Ok here we have a couple of Chaos Enforcers, basically these are bad guys who keep the normal troops in control and advise them to fight to the death (there’s not the Enforcers)

I thought I do these in a nice dark palette with shiny heads

Next I’ll start on the normal infantry as I’ve run out of Anzacs to paint up ;-)

Cheers

Renegade Command hit the streets

Sorry for the lack of updates recently I’ve been otherwise focused on doing some WWI Anzacs (see my main blog) but work has slowly been continuing on the Vraks stuff, and so without further ado here is today’s (and probably this month’s) update

It’s time to show off the Command squad for the renegades

Aint they lovely?

These are truly beautiful figures and have loads of detail, I was amazed how quickly they painted up and the good old dip method worked wonders yet again.

I am slowly working on the army and soon I should have the first platoon started, so keep an eye on the blog and I’ll update it soon

Cheers

Time for some Artillery

It’s been a little while since my last post but don’t worry dear reader I am still cracking on with the project

Last week I decided to try and finish the support weapons I need for Scenario 1 and went for the Mortar squad. These were nice and easy to paint up although I managed to leave some mould marks on the mortars themselves so I may have to hide then later. all in all the squad worked well and I am now free to do the Infantry

Mortar Squad Mortar Squad
Mortar Squad Mortar Squad
Mortar Squad Mortar Squad

However I am still waiting for the Infantry conversion packs to arrive from Forgeworld HQ so I think I’ll do the Command squad first as I have them sat in a box awaiting a lick of paint, and that’ll be followed up by a couple of Enforcers.

In other news myself and Bill have decided to try and get together every Monday and spend a couple of hours painting, so you should see some movement on the Krieg figures that he is working on. Bill did come over to mine on Sunday and he managed to slap some paint on his first squad and very nice they look too

Well that’s it I’m afraid for todays post, I’ll post more as soon as I have something to show

Cheers

More Renegades

It’s been a slow old week, probably because of the hard work that went into helping Bill at Salute, oh and all the drinking that may have taken place there.

Talking of Salute I picked a pre-order so I have a load of juicy Forgeworld goodies to keep me busy for a while, this includes some enforcers, the command squad and my Oyrns.

Anyway I have managed to do a few more stands for my 400 point renegade force, so here are the 3 heavy bolter stands which will be attached to my command squad

Heavy Bolter Another Heavy Bolter
And another one The whole squad

Once again it was a quick paint job using the magic dip method to do all the hard work.

Next up I’m going to do another support unit and concentrate on a mortar squad in case I want to swap bolters for some artillery, after that I’m going to do concentrate on the command squad itself.

For anyone who is concerned by the lack of opponents for my renegades, well don’t worry as Bill is on the case and is assembling his Krieg forces even as we speak

Cheers

Ah the Renegades march on

I’ve spent a little time this weekend on the army and have done a heavy weapon stand for the second command squad, it’s meant to be a heavy stubber stand but I’m not paying £14 for a DKoK one and then have to chuck the figures away to replace them with renegades, so I’ve done an autocannon and it can stand in for the stubber

So a quick tip to Forgeworld, if you list a unit in the recommended units for a scenario in your own book, err maybe you should make a figure for it.

Just a thought

More Renegades More Renegades

Anyway, another little job I did this weekend was to paint up a vehicle, as I’m working towards 400 points I decided to do a sentinel figure as :-
a) I had one floating around doing nothing
b) I wanted to test out some colours for the rest of renegade armour
So here it is

I really like it and think it worked really well

More Renegades More Renegades
More Renegades More Renegades

So anyway that’s me for a bit, I’m half way through a Heavy Bolter squad and will post pics of those 3 stands when they are finished

See you after Salute

Mike

More Renegades and a list

God I’m finding these figures easy to paint, this dip method is a winner for this type of armies and I am rattling through them at a rate of knots.

Yesterday I finished off the rest of the command squad and have made a good start on a second heavy weapon team, this is on top of my other projects that I am doing alongside the renegades (see my main site)

Renegade Command Renegade Command

Bill has painted up a few test figures and I’ve seen the first of the Kreig and they are going to be lovely, hopefully he’ll post some pics soon to prove I’m not doing this on my own (that’s a hint Bill)

Oh yeah I’ve also worked out a 400 point Combat team list, which I’ll work on completing first, then at least we’ll be able to play a few games to get used to the armies, I’ve based it on the forces I need for Scenario 1 in the book with an additional Sentinel which I am only using as I had one floating around and it’ll give me a chance to practice a vehicle colour scheme

Heres my army list anyway I’ll update you on my progress as it goes along (oh this list was made using Army builder if you are interested)

The Renegades Appear

I managed to get a bit of free time yesterday so I painted up the Missile team for my Renegades Infantry command squad

All in all it worked well, the dip process is a winner for these type of troops and I got the dark and dirty look I was after. One mistake I did make was to varnish the stand before I had finished the basing, this meant the base is a little darker then I wanted.

Today I am going to weather the troops and the base a bit which will help

Anyway 1 stand down, millions to go, so here’s a few pics as proof for you all

Oh if anyone is interested in Bills progress, err he’s having a few problems putting the troops together, but I’m sure he’ll get on track soon and will post an update.

The First of the Renegades

After a interesting trip to the Forge world Open day (See Here for all the gossip) I have managed to get a bit of time to start on the renegades.

So here *Pause for fanfare* are the first Chaos renegade figures

Chaos Renegades Chaos Renegades

Ok I’ve only had a chance to put 5 of them together, but it’s a start

Anyway these are the Infantry platoon command squad, I’ve followed the OoB from Scenario one and gone for a Missile and Grenade Launcher in the squad. They were a bit fiddly but they went together ok, I forgot how long it takes resin to stick with superglue so I may have to get some more accelerant to help in the assembly process. Tomorrow I’ll under coat them and then we’ll see how they look with some paint on them, I’m hoping the dip method will work well, as there is a lot of detail on the torsos, but we’ll see what happens

Hopefully Bill will update you all on his attempts to put the DKoK figures together later today

Cheers

Mike

An update of sorts

Sorry for the lack of updates chaps but here is a quick one for you:-

We are still waiting for our first Forgeworld order to arrive, so in the meantime we have been looking for other jobs to keep us busy.

I’ve continued making the cityscape terrain and have finished another couple of buildings, unfortunately I can’t show you any pics as Bill has got my camera. The weather here has been rubbish so I haven’t been able to paint up the base boards but as soon as I get a nice day I’ll get them done.

The landing pad (from scenario 4) is still giving me headaches, I did pick up a large plate from a garden center which I thought would be brilliant for it (it is nearly 2 foot wide and stands about 3 inches high) but it’s too big so I need a smaller one

In other news, next Sunday is the Forgeworld open day so Bill and Myself are going to drive over and visit the event, this means we can drool over the Forgeworld goodies and also pick up a few bits and bobs. I think I’m going to get some parts for some tanks I have set aside for the renegades but I’ll probably get some renegades as well to start myself off.

Well that’s it for now, as soon as we get something else done we’ll update

Cheers

Mike

Waiting…………

Well our Forgeworld order has gone in and we are waiting for it’s arrival, so in the meantime I’ve been busy thinking about terrain.

my idea is to make up 2 types of terrain boards, one will be used for the city based scenario’s and the other for the normal battles. I’ll use the same colour base for each type but I’ll stipple the normal boards to add some texture. hopefully if we get some nice weather I’ll be able to paint them up over the weekend.

as I already have a table I’ll do the same idea I used for my desert boards and just use 12mm mdf sheets cut into 4 x 2 ft sections then these thin boards can just sit on the table when needed, this also cuts down on the storage as the boards are nice and thin

I’m also in the middle of making buildings that can be used for the city fights and am thinking about how to make the landing pad that is mentioned in the book, this needs to be about 18″ in diameter, so that may need a bit of thinking about

I’ve added a new album to the gallery so you can see the images of the building I’ve already built, it’s here
